It looks like a lot of players, especially the low-medium end hardware users are experiencing some good amount of problems while playing Escape From Tarkov. That is why we decided to come up with a basic lag fix guide that will show you some simple tweaks that you can try in order to fix the performance issues that you are having.
Here is how to fix lag, fps drops, crashes and random stutters in Escape From Tarkov. For most games I recommend looking at their system requirements first. Lets take a look at the system requirements of Escape From Tarkov first:. I did try running this game on a gtx ti and the performance was not good at all. If you want to check out the settings that I used then you can check this guide out.
People often tend to ignore driver updates and sit with buggy or un-optimized drivers. Outdated drivers could be the reason behind many performance issues on your system. Therefore it is always recommended that you keep your drivers up-to-date. Here are the links to the latest drivers for AMD and Nvidia graphics cards:.
Microsoft is known for releasing buggy OS updates every now and then. And the problem has only escalated on the Windows 10 OS. So check whether you have pending Windows updates or not and then update your OS. Here is how to do it:. Game mode prevents Windows Update from performing driver installations and sending restart notifications and it also helps your system towards achieving more stable frame rates depending on the specific game and system.
Here is how to turn on Game Mode:. If by any chance you are witnessing random crashes and freezes in Escape From Tarkov then chances are it is being caused by an overclocking application or utility running in the background.
A lot of games have been suffering from crashes lately due to applications like MSI Afterburner or Zotac firestorm. One thing holding Escape From Tarkov back though is its poor optimisation. Luckily, that is where I come in to try and help you guys out. I have created this quick guide after lots of testing to show you what I found to be the best Escape from Tarkov settings for squeezing out as much fps as possible. Jokes aside, I have a fair amount of hours in the game and I have done a lot of tinkering around to try and get my settings to be as optimal as possible.
This provides me with a balance between good visuals and solid performance. So if you are are interested in grabbing a few more frames in Tarkov follow the simple steps below.
Remember that the settings I am about to show you have been tweaked a lot so that they give me the best performance using this rig. This is important as your rig might be better or worse and you should change the settings in line with what your specifications can handle.
I will try to give you a few hints and tips on certain settings that I think are important. Please remember these are just guidelines and the game is not completely optimised so they might not work as well for you. I am going to go into more detail as some of the settings in Escape from Tarkov have a few quirks that should be taken into account.
First things first, please complete the following step as it could give you a small performance boost. Screen resolution and aspect ratio do not require much discussion, these should be set to your native display settings. Just remember that by doing this you are greatly sacrificing visual quality and fidelity so it is a significant trade-off.
Vsync is not required since it can cause input lag. If your graphics card cannot produce the frame rate that matches your monitors refresh rate then Vsync will knock your frame rate down by half to ensure your frames are synced. The input lag in creates can set you at a significant disadvantage. Switching to ultra has given me huge FPS drops compared to high and especially medium.
Escape From Tarkov – Optimal or Best Graphics Settings
Be aware that if you change this slider, it will change all your other settings since these are presets. So be careful when changing these after you have gone and customised all your settings.
This comes down to personal preference. If you want maximum FPS possible then put this to low. I think the game looks great so I like to put this on high. I also think putting textures and shadows to low makes it easier to see people and bodies.
The higher your shadows the harder it is to see players in shadowed or dark areas. If you want pure FPS and visibility then turn shadows down. I like medium as it is a balance between visibility, quality and performance.Escape From Tarkov runs quite smoothly for the most part but it looks like some players are witnessing few hiccups here and there.
It is understandable that not everyone is sitting with a high end gaming PC. In fact, according to the latest Steam Hardware Survey most of the gamers still game on low-medium graphics cards. But this is the greatest thing about PC gaming.
Tweaking in-game graphics or video settings not only gives you a smoother experience but also gets rid of performance issues like lagsudden fps drops, stuttering, etc. Same is the case with Escape From Tarkov. Lets see if it is possible to make this game run for people with low end graphics cards by tweaking the in-game video or graphics settings. It is always recommended to run a game on a medium end gaming rig if you want to find out the best combination of graphics settings for the game.
There is no point in running benchmarks on gaming rigs with high or enthusiast level graphics cards. Lets take a look at the system requirements of Escape From Tarkov first.
I have seen people with high-end gaming rigs facing fps drops while playing it. We still went ahead and ran it on a very basic and mediocre gaming PC. Here are the full specifications of our rig:. This is what I was talking about. Even though the recommended system requirements say that I only need a DX11 compatible graphics card with 2 GB or more of memory, it is highly inaccurate. The game lacks optimizations and even after lowering most of the settings, I was only getting around fps.Openjdk 11 javafx
Which if you ask me, is very low on a GTX ti. If you think this guide had helped you then let us know in the comment section below.

Determining the ultimate settings is a quite hard task, as you might expect, all the parameters are highly individual. However, we have looked at what the most competitive and professional players are using — everything from keybindings, sensitivity, monitor settings, gaming equipment, and so on.
This guide will cover everything from competitive settings to someone who just wants to be able to play it smoothly on their PC. Getting good FPS and lag-free experience in these types of games are crucial. Hopefully, we can expect quite some updates from the developer itself, Battlestate Games, in the future helping us out even further with optimizing the performance.
As a bonus, reducing the graphics and removing clutter can help you see your enemies better and faster before they spot you in Escape From Tarkov. The easiest way to get better performance fast is to start with the in-game settings. Apart from hardware, the graphics settings will have the most impact on your FPS count while playing.
Both AMD and Nvidia regularly release new updated drivers for new games that are optimized to run those games. Make sure you have the latest available driver installed. The easiest way is to use either AMD Radeon software or Nvidia GeForce Experience software, which keeps your drivers up to date automatically with a click of a button. If you do not want to use these softwares you can download the drivers directly from the AMD here or Nvidia here.
The less RAM your computer has, the more important this option is, but we would recommend it either way. Widening your view will make the game have to render more assets. Resulting in costing more resources of your computer. Most standard monitors typically have 60Hz and gaming monitors Hz or even Hz. Which is recommended for competitive gamers. You can get an estimated refresh rate of your monitor here.
If you need a better monitor, check our guide on the best monitor for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Depending on your graphics card and monitor, the resolution should be your native one.
However, if your computer has a hard time to keep up with decent FPS rates. Lowering display resolution is probably the one setting that will improve performance the most. Reducing the resolution will result in a less sharp and more pixelated image, but you will gain more frames per second. Some use windowed full-screen mode for faster tabbing out and in of the game. Use Fullscreen only, this will greatly increase the performance as your computer will have an easier time handling the game.
The ratio of the height and width of the screen, the default is set to native which will give you the aspect ratio of your monitor.
Recommended to leave it like that. Either way, this is an individual choice depending on your hardware or liking, most commonly or The following settings will give you more controll and impact on your FPS, but this is a good start. Texture Quality is the resolution of the textures from the game files.

Recommended set to high if you have relatively high video card RAM for best performance. Same as special effects casts shadows of objects. Lowering the setting will give a small impact on performance.
Set to medium to high for some FPS gain. Some competitive prefer no shadows for having an easier time to see outlines of characters, however lowering the shadows will significantly reduce the realism of the game.Frames per second FPS may help you determine your game performance.
If it is too low, your game performance may lower too. Showing FPS on the screen thus proves helpful. Escape from Tarkov has a command console that allows users to show FPS in the game. These are the in-game steps to follow if you want to show FPS. Each of them shows FPS information differently. Read Also: How to optimize Escape from Tarkov for better performance.
This works better if no games are running. Currently, Escape from Tarkov is not in steam. It only runs via its own Launcher since it is still in beta. To do so. After this, open Escape from Tarkov. Look at the position of the screen you chose, the FPS counter will be displayed there. It is usually fairly small, appearing on top of the game. People are reporting it's working, I personally haven't experienced any noticeable change myself, but hopefully it works better for you guys, let me know below:. I happened upon this post on the EFT Subreddit just a few days before I actually bought the game, and so while going through setting the game up the initial time, I did this.
Can't say for sure if it helped me, but I have seen a lot of people on Reddit say it works. Thanks for bringing it to everyone here, though!
For me it made it so my mouse no longer was able to be used as a teamspeak push to talk short cut, but my FPS did improve. Another thing i've found on youtube. If you put your settings to low and then close the game. Restart it and then put it to ultra or high this clears the cache for some reason and makes the game a lot smoother in my experience. Its what we call in game development shader caching. Shaders are cached at disk for making loading stuff faster etc. If you clean that up not everything loads to memory thus supposedly making your game faster.
Tho you will be generating the same shaders and reach the same stage the more you play anyway. Do it maybe once everyday for now should give some performance. How to Uncap Your FPS In Tarkov
If you ever have problems with the Teamspeak push to talk PTTthen simply launch Teamspeak as an administrator. Any program ran as admin will have priority over non-admin, therefore your key binds will not work in the background. You can post now and register later. Arqade is a question and answer site for passionate videogamers on all platforms. It only takes a minute to sign up. I recently built a new computer. It's not mind-blowingly amazing but it's pretty solid, and I can play any game in my Steam library on it. I've been messing around with graphics settings in Borderlands 2. Right now, I have everything on high, with the FPS set at unlimited.
The FPS-counter wildly varies from Although during normal gameplay, it stays pretty close to I have not experienced any screen tearing. I've noticed that there are settings for limiting the frames per second. The settings are:. Capping your framerate is especially beneficial to laptops or any other sort of mobile computers as it provides an excellent way to keep a laptop from eating its battery alive and also from burning a hole in your crotch.

Using a framerate cap will not provide a reduction in screen tearing. Framerate caps simply throttle a number of frames your video card can produce; they do not force the video card to wait until the monitor has begun a new refresh cycle.Chapter 22 respiratory system answer key
If the framerate you are producing is around fps then you might want to cap it a 50 or 60 as the spikes where it is 75 will feel like your game is slowing down when it goes back down to 55, this is just an example and your actual frames per second may vary. Using v-sync conveys all the benefits listed about framerate caps above, with the added benefit of eliminating screen tearing; however, it does have the drawback of adding some latency. Generating more frames than your monitor can display is a waste of energy; frame-tearing can only be eliminated by video-syncing, but it can be minimized by capping FPS at the monitor frequency.
However, input-latency is a related consideration. Given two quantized systems, a image generation, and b image rendering, any disparity between the rates must on occasion result in tearing if they are not mutually excluded from occurring concurrently by syncing the GPU and monitorand any FPS in excess of the physical limits of the monitor is wasted. Ideally, an exact match in rate, offset by half the interval would minimize or eliminate tearing and waste no compute.
This is easily visualized, as follows, assuming As can be seen, if the monitor is If you never saw it, was the frame needed? Thus, given a frame-rate constraint on the physical device, no rate greater than the monitor capability can be perceived since additional frames are simply never seen.
From that it seems logical that capping FPS at the monitor refresh rate results in the maximal perceivable motion quality. Therefore it seems logical that generation of any frames over-and-above the monitor's refresh rate will simply waste electricity.
Given that you can't prevent tearing no matter what you do without monitor syncing, it's still much better to cap the frame rate and put that compute power into generating more detail per frame, and once that maximum is reached, just save the energy and reduce waste heat. Playing into this, as well, even if you have a Hz monitor is what you can actually perceive.
Most data indicates that FPS matters only up to about 60 to Hz, with conclusions that 90 Hz FPS for most people is the cut off for visually perceptible improvement. But every individual is unique, and regular gamers are among the most sensitive to motion artifacts because your visual system can be trained.
